About

Welcome to Tuning in Fifths
Tuning in Fifths is a space for amateur violinists and violists and adult learners who want to connect with a musical community, and grow as musicians. Whether you’re returning after years away, beginning as an adult, or curious about Baroque style and historically informed performance, this is a place to find encouragement, practical guidance, and community.
Music-making is a lifelong journey open to anyone with curiosity, persistence, and a love of music.
My Story
I Like many of you, music is an important part of my life, but I haven’t always considered myself to be a musician or a violinist. I started playing the violin as a child, but life eventually led me to put it down for more than 15 years.
When I returned to lessons as an adult, I felt extremely rusty as a violinist, but excited to bring music into my life again. What began as just picking my violin up again grew into a central part of my life: lessons, orchestral playing, chamber music, and an exploration of Baroque style and historically informed performance.
Today, I’m an amateur violinist and violist who has found joy in growing as a musician and joining a large community of fellow amateurs.
